They are recognizable by their afro deep sounds. dedicated to combine electronic productions with a perfect understanding of African rhythms. Following select releases on Modjadeep Musik, Sunclock,Seres Produções, Afro rebels and Deep House offering on Mababu Records.

We caught up with Modjadeep.SA to talk about his new Label and Deep house project on the Mababu Records.

House Is ZA: Hi Modjadeep.SA, welcome and thank you for speaking with us today. Given your long-coming request, we are excited to speak to you. Can you tell us about Modjadeep.SA and the inspiration behind the name?

Modjadeep.SA: First, thank you for affording me this opportunity. the name is a tribute to the homeland, I was born in Tzaneen in a area called Modjadji, under the rule of the rain Queen Modjadji of the Balobedu tribe, Queen Modjadji.

As you already know that we make it deep and put it in your ear no matter where you are, we blended the homeland name and deep to get Modjadeep.SA.

HIZ: When did this journey begin.

Modjadeep.SA: In the beginning there was my uncle, by the name Auto, who had a studio back in Limpopo, as a kid I'd see him and friends rehearsing every week days but couldn't witness their performances during weekends. that gave time to mess around his studio when he was out gigging, its dates back to 2002.

HIZ: We are now 20 years on since the you got exposed to music and there have been many memorable projects in the time since. How do you feel Modjadeep.SA as an artist has evolved since the beginning? Is your mission still the same as when the journey first began?

Modjadeep.SA: Lol Time definitely moved on, I feel different today than back then but my heart is still at the same place. A lot has changed since then. When I started there were not so many producers doing dance music in the north coast. Now there are quite a few.  And many of these guys and girls are fantastic.

In the end, my mission is still the same: I want to bring people together and enjoy music.

HIZ: Modjadeep.SA is known as the father of ancestral deep and strange sounds that strives to introduce new sounds to the people. What role do you feel your music has in helping to achieve this?

Modjadeep.SA: That’s a good question! Music can definitely help you to get through tough times. Music is always about togetherness and respect. At least the music I am bringing help the people who don't travel to get for example an Angolan house feeling. It can take you to club in Luanda even though you are physically in Johannesburg. I bring a spirit with music. Spiritually we are one people.

My music is a carrier of a life saving message.

HIZ: Congratulations on the release of your ‘Dreams Remix’ EP, which is out now via Seres Produções!, how did it come about and what has the initial reception been like so far?

Modjadeep.SA: It’s nice to hear a compliment about your music or getting support from names such as Native Tribe. I really appreciate the sincere words of producers with whom I musically identify. It is a great feeling to be appreciated by the music industry around you. I put my heart into it.

The founder of Seres, Dj Satelite is like a brother to me, i got to know about him via my crazy love for Boddhi Satva, once upon a time, I was streaming releases by Satva his name popped up and his catalogue was a massive upgrade of what I always wanted to hear.

We got linked through social media, a very soft spoken and helpful brother as always, the release got much support from the biggest names in the game. it features the best of the best , Dj Nascent, Mrex De Just and Canar LED.

HIZ: What else can we expect from Modjadeep.SA in the near future? What new milestones are you looking out for in the coming months?

Modjadeep.SA: The Brand itself is a milestone. I’m just going to keep grinding this diamond. Looking at subsequent releases, I already know that I have always wanted to release such music and own my own label. The main goal has been achieved. we have added a new label with my partner Mrex De Just and the musical fire is burning ;)

HIZ: Thank you so much for your time Modjadeep.SA! We wish you and your brand all the best for the future!

Modjadeep.SA: Thank you very much for this nice and interesting interview! Hugs!
